Pursuing the dream that he couldn’t complete last year, Bassel Harfouch made some good steps towards possibly joining a D-League team this coming season, or coming back to play in the Lebanese League where he had an injury last season preventing him to show his real talent.
On August 14, he went to try out with the Windy City Bulls, the affiliate D-League team of the Chicago Bulls, and he did so good that he got a congratulations message from Jeff Feld, the new Manager of Basketball Operations of the team.
He then got invited along with 19 other players to participate to the second part of the open try outs last Sunday and there came another 140 players wanting to get a chance to be in the Chicago NBDL team, among them our local league Superman, Dion Dixon.
The team will now choose in the next few days two of those 16 to join the Windy City Bulls for the coming season.
Harfouch is attracting a lot of attention, and got invited to similar try outs in two other D-League teams, the Fort Wayne Mad Ants (October 1) and the Sioux Falls Skyforce (October 9).
Pending the outcome of those try outs, the talented young Lebanese guard will be back to Lebanon in mid-October to join a team for a new adventure.
